T.S.O.L - First 12" EP (1981)

Right, I've been listening to this all week and I need to throw it up, one of the true underrated classics of American punk. Formed in 1979 in Huntington Beach California, T.S.O.L stands for True Sounds of Liberty, a highly politically charged band well ahead of their time considering the sheer ferocity of their music and of course their influence in the goth quadrant along with fellow punk/goth rockers 45 Grave.

Musically they sound a lot heavier and distorted than the Dead Kennedys and Adolescents and take a less satrical no nonsense approach to their lyrics.
Mandatory listening for anyone remotely interested in the early American punk scene, their 12" EP has definetly stood the test of time and is a real testament to punk from the USA unlike the crap that was put out during the mid nineties and onwards by the likes of NOFX, Rancid, The Casualties etc.

T.S.O.L. are still active today with all the original members minus the drummer and still stay true to their name holding the same angry beliefs that were pressed onto this record. Definetly check them out if you haven't already.
