Teargas US tour and 7" Download

Probably my favorite band out of Australia in recent times ever since I saw them at Such is Life in 2008 I think it was? Anyway, lovely blokes Teargas are touring the States and you will be missing out if you don't go see them. Mixing a healthy dose of Japanese punk similar to Bastard, Deathside, Judgement and a splash of Poison Idea make Teargas a force to be reckoned with. I've also taken the liberty of uploading their fantastic 7" which is now sold out however don't fret, they are releasing a 12" very shortly on Hardcore Victim. Can't wait to hear it! Featuring members of Draft Dodger, Dick Nasty and Insurgents, be prepared for something truly special at Chaos in Tejas!

Depression - Hardcore History (1989)

Formed in Melbourne circa 1982 Depression were potentially one of the first hardcore punk bands from down-under. Incorporating influences from Discharge to Black Flag and beyond, they managed to formulate their own hard hitting in your face sound that made them incredibly popular at home and abroad, so much so one of their most popular songs 'What a strange world' featured on the Maximum Rock&Roll compilation: Welcome to 1984 (Recently reissued!) Depression reformed in 2009 with both Spike and Smeer returning along with members of Smeers Rock&Roll band 'Speed Demons' playing gigs sporadically both locally and interstate.

This record was released as a double LP in 89' and features all of Depressions' early material from their Demo tape until the Australia Australia EP in 85 as well as the self titled LP. After Spike (lead singer) left Depression in 86' they went on with guitarist Smeer taking over vocals and heading in a more thrash metal direction. This releases also features a few songs from that period which I'm assuming were from a demo tape but nonetheless are worthy of merit. Enjoy!

Draft Dodger - First Past the Last Post LP (2005)

Released on Endless Blockades in 2005, First Past the Last Post contains some of the most potent Australian Hardcore ever from Brisbane's finest. Make no mistake, this LP will rip you a new arsehole after listening to it. Along with this LP, Draft Dodger also released a demo tape, a rehearsal CD-R and a seven inch entitled Guantanamo Bay Holiday. Featuring the lyrical genius of Neil Bramley who was previously in Bjelke-Petersen Youth and B.A Barracus later went on to front Teargas.

Anti-Cimex - Scandinavian Jawbreaker (1993)

Possibly the most overlooked of Anti-Cimex's releases (at least in Australia!), the last album they ever released has still not lost any of the potency we've all heard in the classic Raped Ass 7" and Victims of a bomb raid 7". Still ripping out the d-beats with a bit more of a Broken Bones metal punk edge to it, most likely due to Cliff Lundberg (Moderat Likvidation, Black Uniforms) guitar talents. I rate this as highly as any other Anti-Cimex release. Jonsson went on to do vocals for Wolfpack until 98 and then was kicked out and replaced.

Moskwa - Nidgy (1989)

Polish Punk Band from the Early to Late 80's, influenced by GBH and Discharge. Moskwa fused a lot of influence from both the Punk and Metal camps very fast and abrasive with a lot of Finnish Hardcore elements in there except played at turbo speed similar to Mob 47. Highly recommended Listening!

Vorkriegsphase - Auf In Den Tod (1983)

Another Classic from Germany, Vorkriegsphase are very much responsible for the buzzsaw guitar sounds that a lot of punk bands now in Japan attempt to imitate. Accept no substitutes, Vorkriegsphase are the real deal. Originally released on the contentious Rock-A-Rama label in 83' a bootleg has recently surfaced making this highly sort after classic available for a fraction of the price you'd pay for the original!

Mauser - End of the Line 7" and Demo tape

One band that's stood out for me already this year is raw punks Mauser from Florida. I first heard their demo a few months ago and fell in love with it, further researching the band on their myspace page I found out that they had a 7" out and immediately tried to find it but to know avail. Eventually one popped up on ebay for $15 and I jumped on it as quickly as possible and was not disappointed, good luck finding this awesome record!

For fans of Framtid, D-Clone, Nerveskade and Discharge!

*Note both recordings are the same except the Cassette has an extra song.

Leprosy//Helpless Split Cassette

Most Recent Leprosy release with Californian Kuro worshippers The Helpless.
Had brilliant fun writing and recording these songs, in my opinion a step up from the Leprosy demo. Not sure where you can source this tape, I believe Black Shit Noise records are making more of them, get in touch with them if your after a copy.

Mandatory first post

Greetings,
Welcome to my blog, I plan on providing you with awesome tunes from around the globe. We are currently experiencing what I'd like to call: the new wave of raw punk. To shed some light on this claim I'm going to define raw punk as:

A subgenre of punk music influenced by early 80's hardcore punk, specifically from the UK (Chaos UK, Discharge, Disorder). Raw punk is an umberella term thats not strictly limited to the UK geographically and incorparates bands from all around the globe who are influenced by the subgenre known as UK82.
Of course, this blog/distro isn't going to be entirely centered on one genre of music, it will encompass a number of different artists and genres. I made that statement purely to emphase the style that my current bands are playing. (Leprosy and Mangel Wankers for those who don't know). For the time being I will be posting links regarding these two bands as well as the first official Atomic Age release which will be the demo of Californian Post punk band: Death of Venus.

I plan on starting small by limiting this labels releases to Cassettes at first but will be moving on to vinyl with the first Leprosy 7" which will be out shortly this year. Also in the middle of getting artwork for my distro and this webpage, In the mean time, enjoy my blog!
