Flower Leperds - The Original Group (1990)
Flower Leperds are one of those bands that don't get the credit which is due to them. Formed by guitarist Jeff Wolfe and best known for their period with Tony Cadena of Adolescents as their lead singer, few have truly appreciated the earlier Flower Leperds material that featured Mark Olsen as their front man which in my opinion had a much more gloomy almost deathrock vibe about them. In 85 they released their first 7" 'Has Hate Been Kind Enough' which covered rather taboo topics in their lyrics such as pedophilia, suicide and general disdain for human life, Flower Leperds are far from your typical punk band, in fact they remain an enigma mixing a variety of different influences.
This Mystic records compilation of their 7" as well as demo tracks even features a cover of Alice Cooper's '18' and the Rolling Stones 'Jumping Jack Flash' which goes to show how bizarre yet intriguing this band is. Cheers to Ryan Kallenberger for getting me this LP, will repay in kind. RIP Jeff Wolfe

Total Control - Henge Beat LP (2011)
So I was having a conversation with Neil from Teargas last month and he asks: "You heard Total Control?" Thinking the name sounded familiar or I at some point in my travels saw one of their records in the bargain bin at Missing Link I replied with: "Names familiar, where they from?" His reply: "Melbourne, Darkwave apparently." Ehhh? A darkwave band in Melbourne and I haven't been informed till now? I went to investigate. Turns out Total Control features Dan the writer of prominent Punk/Hardcore Fanzine 'Distort' and member of Straightjacket Nation and UV Race. I'm no stranger to Dan's ramblings in Distort and Maximum R&R regarding Christian Death, Rikk Agnew, Naked on the Vague etc. so naturally I was intrigued to suss this band out. Nabbing the LP and putting it on the turntable I thought I had this bands stylistic origins sussed. Wrong.
I've found it very difficult to rate this LP, when I first heard it I wasn't impressed. It sounded so varied I couldn't pinpoint what sort of sound was trying to be conveyed. On one hand you have this ferocious garage rock and no wave vibe featured in some of the early songs, then it takes a turn towards post punk/darkwave reminiscent of Bauhaus. There are subtle things throughout this record that give away what the band is trying to do. The guitars in parts for example are textbook Rikk Agnew and Dan's vocals shift between Pete Murphy and Rozz Williams and even delves into something along Cacophony era Rudimentary Peni . Your probably wondering if this record is even worth your time? Well after listening to it on repeat I can safely it is. Will definitely drive the 'herdcore' SJN fans around the bend not knowing which way to look.
This record isn't for everyone but it will certainly grow on you with time, and if you are a fan of Post-punk/darkwave/Garage/Synth punk, then you're in for a tantalising treat with many different flavours.

Nerveskade/Perdition split 7" (2011)
Noise destroys! This 7" slays! Nerveskade from PDX deliver hard hitting Disorder/Confuse worship however this 7" is different from their other recordings in so far that the noise element isn't going into overdrive, its actually nice to have it a little easier on the ears for a change and sounds more UK82 than Noise punk but so far my favorite recordings by them! Perdition come from NYC and annihilate their side of the record with two tracks of nasty raw punk but a lot harsher on the vocal delivery than Nerveskade. Can't quite put my finger on this bands influences but I fucking like it none the less. Issued with 2 double-sided inserts, one for each band. First press of 1000 with labels mixed up. Second press of 650 with correct labels.

Lost Tribe - The Dawn (Demo Cassette 2010)
I was a bit slow to catching on to these guys admittedly but thankfully just in time to score their tape! Cheers to Kirk for both the tape and shirt. Lost Tribe are a post punk band who have developed out of the US punk scenes recent flirtation with all things doom and gloom direct from Richmond Virginia. This is actually a really beautiful piece of work both musically and aesthetically, the cover conjures up images of Killing Joke's first LP whilst the music has a particularly eerie quality about it complete with synths and reverbed vocals. Top notch, up there with Bellicose Minds and Spectres except more gloom!

I'm Back!
Finally after a good few months of the computer in the shop and an extended period of moving house/not having internet I've returned. Just recapping on the present situation, I've pretty much sold all my copies of the Infernoh tape, I have maybe three or four remaining I also have a number of distro items still for sale and have a number of packages coming in the mail, among them the Germ Attak LP and Deathcharge LP. Currently in the process of putting out two tapes, the Panel Van Halen Demo is sure to turn heads. Looking forward to it. Have a whole plethora of things to upload and will get to them in the coming days. Leprosy 7" has finished mastering at Enormous door studios (Thanks Jack Control!) and will be sent to press shortly. Check back soon.

Teargas US tour and 7" Download
Probably my favorite band out of Australia in recent times ever since I saw them at Such is Life in 2008 I think it was? Anyway, lovely blokes Teargas are touring the States and you will be missing out if you don't go see them. Mixing a healthy dose of Japanese punk similar to Bastard, Deathside, Judgement and a splash of Poison Idea make Teargas a force to be reckoned with. I've also taken the liberty of uploading their fantastic 7" which is now sold out however don't fret, they are releasing a 12" very shortly on Hardcore Victim. Can't wait to hear it! Featuring members of Draft Dodger, Dick Nasty and Insurgents, be prepared for something truly special at Chaos in Tejas!

Invasion - Self Titled 12" (2007)
I nabbed this little obscurity when it first came out not knowing what to expect at all. C'mon, that sleeve cover is fucking amazing. Far be it from me to merely buy a record based on the cover art I gave this one the benefit of the doubt and I'm fucking delighted I did because its definitely an underrated gem. Invasion were a raw punk band from Barcelona Spain who mixed a lot of Discharge with reverbed vocals that remind me a lot of KURO from Japan. Like many punk bands, Invasion had numerous line-up changes that consequently lead to a name change to the now more well known Destino Final. Great band, highly recommended. Both LP's from Invasion are available from No Patience.

Part 1 - Funeral Parade 7" (1982)
Probably the most enigmatic anarcho punk band out of the UK during the 1980's. Part 1 are very much an anomaly alongside their more well known counterparts Rudimentary Peni. Not much is known about this band at all other than whats been documented in Ian Glasper's book "The Day the Country Died, A History of Anarcho punk 1980 - 1984." They happen to share a lot more commonality with bands such as the Apostles and Blood and Roses rather than Crass and Conflict and to their credit could be argued to be one of the first deathrock bands from the UK.
Funeral Parade was Part 1's only 7" (Their only other release was an LP titled Pictures of Pain) and is limited to around two hundred copies. Even Mark Farrelly the guitarist knows of one copy in existence which goes to show just how rare this record is. Featuring a bizarre layout and haunting imagery, this is definitely a record that is worth a listen not only for the brilliant music it contains but also for the legacy it leaves behind.

Depression - Hardcore History (1989)
Formed in Melbourne circa 1982 Depression were potentially one of the first hardcore punk bands from down-under. Incorporating influences from Discharge to Black Flag and beyond, they managed to formulate their own hard hitting in your face sound that made them incredibly popular at home and abroad, so much so one of their most popular songs 'What a strange world' featured on the Maximum Rock&Roll compilation: Welcome to 1984 (Recently reissued!) Depression reformed in 2009 with both Spike and Smeer returning along with members of Smeers Rock&Roll band 'Speed Demons' playing gigs sporadically both locally and interstate.
This record was released as a double LP in 89' and features all of Depressions' early material from their Demo tape until the Australia Australia EP in 85 as well as the self titled LP. After Spike (lead singer) left Depression in 86' they went on with guitarist Smeer taking over vocals and heading in a more thrash metal direction. This releases also features a few songs from that period which I'm assuming were from a demo tape but nonetheless are worthy of merit. Enjoy!

Mellakka - RIP recordings 1984 - 1986
I don't usually upload stuff I don't own but I've made an exception for Mr Ryan Dufous. Here's Mellakka, a hardcore punk band from Finland who drew a lot of influence from their other Finnish comrades KAAOS. Although Mellakka unlike KAAOS didn't have many slow paced melodic songs and instead just played fast paced 1-2 hardcore punk with a bit of Broken Bones guitar solos in there for good measure. The more you listen to Finnish Hardcore you can see these dudes bought one Chaos UK record, listened to it a million times and started a band from it. Fucking Brilliant, nothing I like better!
Mellakka only released two 7 inches in their short three year life span but none the less created some ripping hardcore as a result. The RIP recordings contains the Ei... 7" the Itsenäisyyspäivä 7" and a 3 song demo cassette which offers all their recordings in a nice little package. From what I believe its still easy to obtain this record, definetly invest in it. I'm still hunting the originals.

Bog People - 81' in 09' demo (2009)
Prior to 09' there was very few bands that could realistically embody the true sounds of UK82, the most stand out of these was Germ Attak, but in late 09' a new band emerged from Portland Oregon that turned heads everywhere they went and defied the crust or noise conventions that were in place for most punk bands in the States. I give you Bog People, without a doubt one of the most impressive bands to appear in recent times.
Fueled by Cider and glue these guys (and one girl) managed to only squeeze out a demo tape and a split 7" that was also made on cassette in their rather short life span, which is a pity because they're fucking amazing. Caught somewhere between Lunatic Fringe, Uproar and Chaos UK, Bog People blast out 8 tracks of chaos that literally makes you believe it was recorded for Riot City Records in 82 and is a genuine testament to the genre. Definitely one of my favorites in the past few years, RIP Bog People.

RUIDOSA INMUNDICIA MELBOURNE SHOWS
T.S.O.L - First 12" EP (1981)
Right, I've been listening to this all week and I need to throw it up, one of the true underrated classics of American punk. Formed in 1979 in Huntington Beach California, T.S.O.L stands for True Sounds of Liberty, a highly politically charged band well ahead of their time considering the sheer ferocity of their music and of course their influence in the goth quadrant along with fellow punk/goth rockers 45 Grave.
Musically they sound a lot heavier and distorted than the Dead Kennedys and Adolescents and take a less satrical no nonsense approach to their lyrics. Mandatory listening for anyone remotely interested in the early American punk scene, their 12" EP has definetly stood the test of time and is a real testament to punk from the USA unlike the crap that was put out during the mid nineties and onwards by the likes of NOFX, Rancid, The Casualties etc.
T.S.O.L. are still active today with all the original members minus the drummer and still stay true to their name holding the same angry beliefs that were pressed onto this record. Definetly check them out if you haven't already.

Attack SS - No Boss 7" (2009)
Noise Noise Noise! Nice little 7" I picked up for a decent price a few weeks ago, already heard their music before but the record was so good I decided I'd grab it along with the Kriegshog 7". Attack SS turn the guitar noise into overload with highly delayed vocals that remind me a lot of Disorder/Chaos UK in the Short Sharp Shock era, they mix up a bit of d-beat with 1 2 as well which serves as a treat. Recommended 7" and looking forward to hearing more releases from Attack SS!

The Misfits - Beware 7" (1980)
Can't pass up a classic, before the Misfits became the decor of skateboards, hoodies, and the back of just about every mall punks expensive leather jacket that was way too big for them they were actually a really original band doing something completely different to anything else coming out of the States. Forget about the reformed Misfits that featured Michael Graves, guy was a douchebag and the music sucked! The Beware 7" is a compilation of sorts that features a stack of songs off various other singles but more important features my favorite Misfits song second only to 'Hybrid Moments'.
"ONE LAST CARESS"
What a fucking ripper! Interestingly enough this 7" was pressed to 3120 copies in the UK to promote their 1979 tour. Unfortunately the sleeve artwork was not finished in time, so it wasn't made public until January 1980. Regardless, as far as Misfits records are concerned, this is my favorite, it has everything one could hope for. Such a shame most "Misfits" fans these days don't appreciate the brilliance that is vinyl which they as a band were much more well suited to.

Wow, just fucking wow is the only thing I really need to say about this record. Meet Kriegshog, Japan's answer to Asocial. This record is so amazing its definetly in my top ten greatest records from the last decade. The blistering ferocity of the guitars, the harsh yet slighly reverbed vocals and the tight as fuck drumming make this a Swedish punk fans' wet dream.

Bellicose Minds - Buzz or Howl Demo Tape (2010)
Holy fucking shit, get out your eyeliner and fishnet shirts because this is amazing. Bellicose Minds from Portland Oregon are one of those bands that have nestled themselves nicely between the darkwave/post punk revival that's recently hit the states alongside other fine purveyors of gothdom such as the Estranged, Spectres and Arctic Flowers. What really blows me away about this tape is its so raw that it could literally fool anyone into believing this was recorded in the early eighties.
There's a bit of everything in this cassette: Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Bauhaus etc. But the vocals are the real treat here: haunting, disturbing and droned and not the kind of droned like Andrew Eldritch's Monster Mash vocals either and both the keyboards and guitars during 'Tension Building' sends shivers down your spine. Massive thanks to Terminal Escape for making this demo available to me. I'm expecting copies of their upcoming 7" very shortly!

Disclose - Visions of War 7" (1996)
Originally released as a picture disc, the Disclose Visions of War 7" along with their debut album Tragedy are in my opinion there best works. Deathcharge - Demo (2004)
Right I've been half arsing everything this week, its been a killer. This weekend is definetly going to kill me as I've got so much shit to do. So for your listening pleasure I present to you the elusive Deathcharge demo CD-R that was released in 2004. Only a very few of these copies were ever made with the purpose of being sent to prospective record labels. They weren't supposed to be made public which makes me wonder why because it sounds fucking brilliant!
In case you've been living under a rock the last few years, Deathcharge are credited with being a very true to life Discharge clone. They ended up releasing a 1/2 EP, and two 7 inches. The more recent release "Hangman/New Dark Age" which instead of being straightforward D-beat in fact sounds a lot more like Anti-Sect with a lot of Deathrock elements to it which incidently this demo sounds more similar to.
Enjoy! May your weekend be as painful as mine.
*I've been instructed by Adam from Deathcharge to remove the link and with respect to the band have done so, sorry!

Draft Dodger - First Past the Last Post LP (2005)
Released on Endless Blockades in 2005, First Past the Last Post contains some of the most potent Australian Hardcore ever from Brisbane's finest. Make no mistake, this LP will rip you a new arsehole after listening to it. Along with this LP, Draft Dodger also released a demo tape, a rehearsal CD-R and a seven inch entitled Guantanamo Bay Holiday. Featuring the lyrical genius of Neil Bramley who was previously in Bjelke-Petersen Youth and B.A Barracus later went on to front Teargas.

False Confession - Self titled 7" (1984)
Ever find a record of interest in a store but you don't buy it because you want to try before you buy? Well unfortunately this happened with False Confession, an early hardcore punk band from the 80's in California who manly believe coined the term "nardcore" (referring to the city of Oxnard where they were based).
Politically charged lyrics combined with highly abrasive and killer guitar solos, this record has a very thrashy element to it but its still quite clearly tied to its punk roots. I refer to this record as the classic that got away because they were only charging $20 for it and its about double that online!

Mishap - Self Titled 7" (2002)
Before Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust made punk and metal crossover in vogue during 2007-2010 many people overlook the authenticity of their earlier harsher recordings. For the record, I've never liked Municipal Waste however Toxic Holocaust I still hold in high regard. Around the time said bands were starting out, another band out of Boston who played in a similar vein however associated more closely to 80's punk similar to English Dogs released perhaps one of the most underrated 7 inches in the last decade.
Meet Mishap, a group of punks who played fast loud and aggressive metal punk in an entire country where crust punk was the rule and anything else was often swept to the wayside and not even given a second thought. When I picked up this baby, the cover didn't really do it for me, I thought possibly they could of been some obscure crust band or something using rather generic imagery, turning over though I thought I'd give it a shot, the band looked cool (call me shallow) but fuck when I put the needle on this record I thought this was fucking brilliant and why hadn't this band been given any recognition?!
Unfortunetly Mishap like so many great bands before them only released one 7" and disappeared after a couple of years. I highly recommend this 7" if you enjoy metal punk crossover this band is for you!
